Songs from Spoon River

Five short films by Paula Downes, completed in April 2009, with music by Andrew Downes & poetry by Edgar Lee Masters. Each film is narrated by a different ghost who tells of her former life as if reciting her own epitaph from the grave. 

This set of five films was showcased at the 2014 American Online Film Awards, and was voted for by the public as one of the top ten films of the foreign music video category before being chosen as one of three nominees.

In April 2016, Songs from Spoon River was shown at the BFI Southbank, London as part of Andrew Downes' CD launch of his Czech Philhamonic Orchestra recording of symphonic works and overtures.

Songs from Spoon River is included in Paula's recent DVD of all her films, Songs of Love & War.
